Slavery Impact
In my honest opinion, I think slavery had a good impact on society and culture. It didn’t give a positive affect socially, because of all the pain and suffering the slaves went through, but culturally it went successfully. Sending the slaves across the world, expanded their culture. America is more diverse with Africans populating most of America. Percentages are changing frequently calculated the number of Africans and other ethnicity around America, Africans are more down south due to past experiences such as plantation farms and civil wars. We have modern holidays that celebrate the Africans and their successes throughout time, such as George Washing Carver, Martin Luther King, and many more. Not to mention Native Americans were also used as slaves, but they were not as efficient as Africans, Natives were not as vulnerable to diseases. Native Americans today are still angry at the modern Americans, but who can blame them? We came from thousands of miles away, they trusted us, and we took advantage of them. It was a very unfortunate time for them, and to repay them, we give some parts of land to them. We are hoping to come to and end with this never ending feud.
Not only Africans and Native Americans, bring foreign cultures, but others as well, Hispanics, Irish, and more. They bring culture to us from migration, and we learn to adapt these cultures easily, making new holidays and other events. Slavery consisted other cultures such as the different foreign foods, “Fufu”, or ‘Peanut Soup’, is a fine cuisine that most would enjoy. Without slavery the diversity would not be as exotic as today. Though it’s something that shouldn’t occur again.
